Favorite Fall Recipes

My friend Kim at Homesteader's Heart is having a wonderful giveaway of a Gooseberry Patch cookbook - stop over there to enter - you have until Nov. 13!

She also asked us for our favorite Fall recipes, so I am sharing a couple with you today.

A couple of our Fall favorites are Pumpkin Bread and Pumpkin Dessert - you can click on those links to get the recipes or click on the picture of pumpkins on my sidebar for a week's worth of pumpkin recipes - yum!

I also included a couple of Fall favorites in our Thanksgiving menu. Today, I'll share the recipes for Festive Winter Salad With Walnuts And Apples and Pantry Cranberry-Apple Sauce. Both of these have the taste of Fall and are incredibly easy!

~~~~~~~~~~
Festive Winter Salad With Walnuts And Apples
1 pkg European-style salad mix (or use your own mix of lettuces)
1 thinly sliced tart apple (I use Fuji, but lots of others work)
1 pkg (4 oz) Blue Cheese, crumbled (I sometimes use Gorgonzola for a milder flavor)
1 cup walnut halves
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar (if you can get the white balsamic - your salad will look prettier)
Salt and pepper to taste
Combine lettuce, apples, walnuts, and Blue Cheese. whisk together oil and vinegar; pour over salad. Add salt and pepper to taste then toss well. Serve immediately.
~~~~~~~~~~

Pantry Cranberry-Apple Sauce
1 can (16 oz) whole-berry cranberry sauce
1 cup sweetened chunky applesauce
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

In small serving bowl, stir cranberry sauce, applesauce, and cinnamon until well combined. If not serving right away, cover and refrigerate up to 3 days.

~~~~~~~~~~
Can you believe how simple those are? And yummy, too! My hubby and I love that winter salad and enjoy it all year long. We also love the cranberry sauce. For anybody that says they don't like cranberry sauce because of the strong flavor - they will enjoy this one since it's milder and sweeter. Hope you enjoy these recipes.
