Our Summer Trip - Yellowstone Park

We Are That Family is hosting a Sizzling Summer Vacation Spectacle. Be sure to stop by there to read about more summer trips. She's even giving away prizes to linking participants and commenters!

We really enjoyed our trip to Yellowstone National Park this summer. If you have never been there - I highly recommend it! It's such a huge park and a unique place. And the colors you will see are amazing - God's beautiful creations all around.

I have already told you about our car troubles, but we saw the park anyway in a rental car! And I showed you a view of a waterfall, pictures of wildlife, and a bit about the place we stayed while visiting the park. Now I have a few more pictures to show you.

This is a small geyser in the Fountain Paint Pots area. The geyser is fascinating, but it's also wonderful to see the surrounding scenery and the big blue sky!

This area was the most colorful - a sight not to be missed. It's the Grand Prismatic Spring. Here's where we head across the river to go see it. See all the steam?

And here's what we came for - the pictures just do not do the colors justice. God created the most beautiful colors!

Here is the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone Park. Amazing!

Proof that we really were there - ha,ha!

This is in the Norris Geyser Basin - another great area to explore. Just wanted to show a couple of pics from there right now. This is the Opal Pool.

This is another bubbling pool in that area - very hot!

Here's a picture looking down into a pool - looks eerie, doesn't it?

That's it for today. Hope you enjoyed the colors! I do have a few more pictures to post in the future, along with some videos if I can figure out how to post them.

Reminder: It's time again for "Would you like chocolate with that?" tomorrow. Get your chocolate-themed posts (family-friendly pictures, recipes, poems, thoughts, etc.) ready to link up on Friday. You can check out last week's post and links for ideas.

Wordless Wednesday: Roughin' It

When we visited Yellowstone Park, we decided to "rough it" and stay in the KOA campground in one of their Kamping Kabins.

I mean, look at the "shack" we had to make do with...

Besides using free wi-fi, we had to suffer with comfy mattresses on log beds for our sleeping bags to go on, table and chairs, heater (didn't need it), lights, picnic table and grill outside. And only one log porch swing that seats two people? How did we cope?

OK, you do have to walk to the bathrooms and showers, and the gift shop, candy shop, laundry room, outdoor restaurant, playground, bike rentals, and the huge indoor pool and spa. Oh - the hassle!

And here's where you will really feel sorry for me...I had to walk steps...and steps... to make it to this spot each day!

Aren't you amazed that we survived in the wilderness for so long??

Stop by 5 Minutes for Mom for more Wordless Wednesday - maybe they will be more "wordless" than me!

Wildlife in Yellowstone...The Animals, Not Us!

I am honored to have a guest post today at Like A Warm Cup Of Coffee. Stop by if you have a chance!

When we went to Yellowstone Park, we did get to see some animals while we were there. It's always exciting! Got pictures of a few of them - here they are:

Elk

More Elk

Buffalo

Pelican

Used to be wildlife - sorry, couldn't resist showing this one

The animals we saw that we didn't get pictures of were: bald eagles, an egret, geese, ducks, chipmunks, deer, a weasel, a beaver, and a grizzly bear very very far away through binoculars and a scope. We also heard wolves howling at dusk - sent chills through my spine!

Hope you enjoyed the few pics we got!

**Don't forget, "Would You Like Chocolate With That?" is back tomorrow. If you have any posts having anything to do with chocolate (family-friendly), old or new, add your link tomorrow!

Wordless Wednesday: The View

This is me (with my son). I am afraid of heights and see-through stairs.

These are see-through stairs leading down a cliff wall into the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone Park.

This is me ON the stairs down into the canyon!

This is the view.

Any questions?
