Remembering Buster

We had to say good-bye to our Basset Hound, Buster, this past week. He had been very sick for quite a while and we knew it was time. He was 12 1/2 years old and had a good old spoiled life here with us! Still it was hard to say good-bye and we are trying to get used to not having him as a part of our daily lives. I thought I'd just share some Buster pics from the blog today - hope you don't mind!

If you're interested in reading any of the Buster posts, you can find them here. As you can see, most of the pics show Buster doing what he liked best - laying around and taking it easy! :)

Buster will be missed.

Have you had to say good-bye to a pet? Would love to hear about your sweet pets of the past in the comments!

Have a blessed day friends!

  1. Aww ! I am so sorry you had to say goodbye. That is a hard thing. I'm afraid we will be doing the same to our sweet houndie before we know it. He's got some medical issues right now that we aren't sure where the road will lead! Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers! HE was beautiful hound with lots of love!

  2. Such sweet pictures. I have a real soft spot in my heart for long and low dogs... bassets, dachshunds, corgis... love 'em. Buster looks like he was a good buddy to have around. How's your son taking it? It's hard on the kids. We've had to say goodbye to two of our furry kids in the last couple of years. Daisy was a Shepherd/Husky/Collie/??? pound puppy that hubs brought home to me. She lived with us for 12 years. Frankie was my little spitfire of a doxie that ruled the roost for about 15 years. We still reminisce every once in a while about "I miss how Daisy used to sleep in that one spot," or "Remember how Frankie used to..." They are such a part of the family & like any family member, it's hard to see them go. Blessings on you and your family as you find your new normal.

  5. We said goodbye to our Murphy girl 2 years ago and it was hard. It'll take some adjusting because they definitely hold a piece of your heart.
Praying that each day gets a little easier for you and your family.
    HUGS!!!

  6. I am sorry for your loss. We lost our dog of 14 years three years ago and our cat of 18 years last year. It is so hard. We greatly miss both of them as they were great pets.

  7. Lisa, I am so sorry. Buster was always so good at welcoming the girls, almost every Friday last year. He was gentle and sweet, helping my youngest, I am sure, get over her dog fear. Love those pictures, especially the on-the-back-without-abandon one! :-) Love you, friend.

  10. I'm so sorry. We had to put our beloved Samson to sleep last year. It was hard on the kids. I wasn't too much of a dog person, until we adopted our our precious Chihuhua. She's 7 months and has me wrapped around my finger.

  11. So sorry about your loss! We put our bichon frise down 9 years ago when she was just about to turn four years old. She had a seizure, and it fried her brain. :-( It was very sad. I pray the Lord comforts you. It must be very hard on your son as well.
