Works-For-Me Wednesday: Microwave Cleaning

Do you put off cleaning your microwave because of the scrubbing required to get all the dried spills off and the awkward positions you have to get in to get the best scrubbing leverage? And hey, the door is closed, so people who stop by can't see it anyway, right? Maybe all of your microwaves are fabulously clean, white, and sparkly inside; but I think some of you know what I'm talking about.

I found this tip a few years ago and after I tried it the first time, I almost smacked my forehead - as in "I coulda had a V-8!" I coulda been saving myself so much time and effort!

Fill a bowl or pyrex measuring cup with water. If your microwave needs deodorizing, you can add some baking soda and lemon juice to the water. Put this in the microwave for at least 5 minutes on high. The idea is that the water boils for while and really steams up the microwave. When it's done, take it out and get a damp rag or sponge. Just wipe the microwave out. Everything is soft from the steam and it will not require scrubbing, just wiping. That's it!!

I know you want to go try it right now. Go ahead, I'll wait. Then come back and leave me a comment telling me how it worked for you, or if you already knew about this tip.
