Would You Like Chocolate With That? ~ YuMMy Bars

It's finally Friday again. Time for more chocolate! I have another recipe for you - yummy and easy. It's from the Mason Jar Soup-to-Nuts Cookbook. Another recipe that you can layer in a jar to give as a gift. If you want to know exactly how they do the layers, let me know. There is chocolate in this recipe - in the M&Ms! How can you go wrong when a recipe includes M&Ms? And I did remember to take a picture before eating them all.

YuMMy Bars
2 cups biscuit mix
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup quick-cooking oatmeal
1/2 cup mini M&Ms (I didn't have any, so used regular size)
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8x8 in. baking pan and set aside.

2. Place the first 4 ingredients in a medium-sized bowl, and stir until well combined. Set aside.

3. Place the butter, egg, and vanilla in a large bowl, and cream with a whisk, fork, or an electric mixer set on low speed.

4. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, and stir with a wooden spoon until well combined.

5. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan, and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely in pan before cutting into cookies.

6. Serve immediately, or store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

YuMM! They are good and since they have oatmeal, you could tell yourself that they are nutritious - right?

Your turn! Link up your chocolate post to Mr. Linky below so we can share the yumminess! Your chocolate-themed post must be family-friendly. It can be new or from your archives. If you're able to, I would appreciate a link to my chocolate post in your post. Feel free to also use the chocolate picture at the top. You don't have to share a recipe - videos, pictures, thoughts, etc. are all good, too. If you need ideas or you missed some of the links, take a look at last Friday or the Friday before. Looking forward to more chocolate!

Hey, don't forget to come back on Monday for Pumpkin Potpourri Week! You can find some info about it in my previous post.

Have a fabulous, blessed, chocolate-filled (but in moderation) weekend!!

  4. Hi Lisa, This sounds great and would make great teacher's gift! I would love to know how you layer them. And is that Bisquick biscuit mix? Love your icons for the chocolate post and Pumpkin Potporri Week. They are really cute! I have a neat idea for Friday's chocolate post. And, post a pumpkin post when I get my outside stuff up. Can't wait to see everyone's contributions!

Hope your weekend is going well! ~Rhonda :)

  5. Those look sooo good!

I had to stop by from Rocks in My Dryer after I read your reverse-psychology potty story, which cracked me up. I just had this great visual of the whole thing. I love how silly kids are and how silly we get to be, now that we're mamas.

    Anyway, thanks for sharing! :)
