Housecleaning Week Update & Would You Like Dessert With That? ~ Sugar Cookies

Let's get the Housecleaning Week stuff out of the way so we can get to the dessert!! Details about the week are on Monday's post!

MY progress on yesterday's project: Um...er...project? I must confess - I never even began this one. I was very tired and had my son's birthday on my mind. I'll have to tackle this one another day. Sometimes life doesn't cooperate with a schedule! :)

MY project for today: Sort and organize recipes.

YOUR assignment #1: Find and throw away 10 expired foods from refrigerator and/or cupboard.
YOUR assignment #2: Fold and put away one load of laundry.

Once again, I managed to get your assignments from yesterday done. I'm glad I've been able to keep up with them! Cleaning updates from today and the giveaway winner will be announced on Monday! Now I think you deserve some dessert after all that hard work!

Another week is ending and this one has been a week of hard work! So glad we've made it to Chocolate Friday! But the first Friday of every month is Dessert Friday - bring on the desserts!

I had to show you this one. It was a big hit with the kids. It took some work, but oh so yummy! These are Caramallow Treats from Christy's blog Falling Around All Apart Me (by the way, read her latest post about finding the balance).

These sugar cookies that I'm sharing today are some of my son's favorites! The kid doesn't really like chocolate - he prefers vanilla. I know - it's amazing that we're related - LOL! This sugar cookie recipe is from my Stepmother. This isn't your typical sugar cookie that's a little soft and can be cut into shapes. These are crisp, buttery, and melt in your mouth - sort of a cross between sugar cookies and shortbread cookies. They are wonderful! My son helped my Stepmother make them a couple of years ago and has loved them since!

Deb's Sugar Cookies

I cup unsalted butter
1 cup oil
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
4 cups flour

Cream butter and oil. Add both sugars, 2 eggs, and vanilla; beat. Sift dry ingredients (salt through flour) together. Add dry ingredients and mix. Chill dough. Roll into small balls and press with small glass dipped in granulated sugar. Bake at 350 - 375 for 10 minutes. (I did 350 degrees and they took 11 or 12 minutes.) Cool and enjoy!

Oh these are so yummy! And this is a big batch of dough - you could even freeze some. I was able to make about 6 dozen cookies.

Now you should link up something chocolatey or some delicious dessert! Go find your posts and come back and link them up with MckLinky below! Share the sugar!! :)

Have a great weekend!

I'm linking this up to Tasty Tuesday over at Balancing Beauty and Bedlam! Go check out all the yummy recipes!

P.S. Happy Birthday to my son!! We love you and hope you have a most wonderful day! Kisses and hugs from Mom & Dad - no you're not too old for the kisses and hugs, but you do need to stop growing up so fast - LOL! :)

Second you're overwhelming me with your eagerness and also making me look bad!
Third, those cookies look delish! And I think there is something about when a kid helps make something, they end up liking it better then ever before.

Big you need a bigger plate for all this stuff you are trying to shove on it size hugs!

  5. *Sigh.*

I'm on this awful BLAND, super-restrictive diet right now, in an effort to suss out the cause of Lichen's digestive problems. It stinks.

I could SOOOOO dive into a whole batch of those cookies headfirst! LOL!
