Tea For Two-sday ~ Link Up Your Teacup Tales

Welcome to Tea For Two-sday!! Since people are stopping by to link up, I suppose I should offer you a treat to go with your tea...

Hopefully a Powdered Sugar Pound Cake will be to your liking!

Today I'm sharing a teacup trio with you - I call them Inherited Elegance.

I inherited these teacups from my Grandmother. When my Grandpa passed away a few years ago (my Grandmother passed away many years before), my Grandmother's things began to be distributed. My Grandmother had a lovely teacup collection - most had been gifts. The Moms & Aunts decided that it would be nice for each granddaughter to get three teacups. What a precious gift! I have cherished my three!

These teacups were kept in a cabinet with a glass door, right near the dining room table in my grandparents' house. I admired them many a time as a child and my sister and cousins would all pick out our favorites. I even saw them in use several times as my Grandmother did often make and serve tea.

Even though I consider these cups heirlooms, I use them regularly. They are often the very first teacups I pull out when serving tea to guests! These cups bring back memories of my grandparents' house ~ the hustle & bustle in the kitchen, the yummy smells wafting through the house, the sound of Grandpa playing The Entertainer on the piano, the laughter of cousins upstairs making up skits to perform, the crackle of the fire in the fireplace ~ aaaahhhhh.

I hope that you will share a Teacup Tale today! You could share a favorite teacup, a memory of a teacup, teacups you wish you had, teacup pictures - be creative! Prepare your Teacup Tale post (if you haven't already) and come back here to link it up with MckLinky below. If you don't have a blog, please feel free to share about your teacups in the comments!

Have a lovely Tea For Two-sday and keep checking back to enjoy some other Teacup Tales today!

Coming Up: Teacup Tales & Fall Fruits Festival

Welcome to another week of stopping to smell the chocolates!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

My Dad was here visiting last week and we had a nice time, but that means that I didn't accomplish much around the house (Totally not my Dad's fault; I just don't seem to be motivated to do house stuff while he's here!). Back to business this week!

I'm *officially* reminding you of upcoming events for my blog...

The first is happening tomorrow for Tea For Two-sday. We're having Teacup Tales and you get to link up your teacup posts!! Forgot to write up a teacup post? There's still time - write one today or tomorrow and link it up on Tuesday. Write anything (family-friendly, of course) you like about a teacup, many teacups, your teacups, other teacups, crafts with teacups, teacup pics or teacup poems! Be as creative as you want!! I can't wait to see what you've got to share!

This isn't a great button, but if you want something to use in your post, feel free to grab the pic!

On Friday I mentioned the Fall Fruits Festival that will start next week. I'll be talking about pumpkin, apples, pears, cranberries, and chocolate (You didn't think I would leave out the chocolate, did you?). Each day will have a different *fruit* and you'll be able to link up posts every day! So get your posts/recipes ready! And there'll be some cute little giveaways!

I did manage to create a button for the Festival and I would greatly appreciate it if you would help me spread the word on your blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and e-mail! You know how much more fun it is when lots of people are coming by - it turns into a party!!

I really do hope to see lots of great Teacup Tales tomorrow and tons of posts linked up next week for the Fall Fruits Festival!!

Have a marvelous Monday my friends!!!

Trivia: How many exclamation points do I have in this post? Let's see how many people get it right - LOL!!

Tea For Two-sday ~ Teacup Tales: The Blue Twins

A very Happy Tea For Two-sday to all of you! What kind of tea should I pour in your cup today? Go ahead and sit right down in that comfy chair - you deserve a little break!

I thought I would tell you about some more teacups today. What can I say? I like naming my cups. And they all have their own stories.

I call these The Blue Twins. They are both the same somewhat sturdy cups with oriental blue design on white. These were some of the first teacups that I received as a gift! A very dear friend (Thank you LW!) gave them to me a few years ago even though she really wanted to keep them for herself after she got them - LOL! She gave them to me for my birthday - so sweet! And not just one, but two that match - even better! They can keep each other company that way. :) They are lovely, aren't they?

Do you have teacups with special stories? Would you like me to post a Teacup Tale next month and include a linky so you can share your own Teacup Tales?

Have a lovely Tea For Two-sday my friends!

Tea For Two-sday ~ Teacup Tales - Pretty Posies

Welcome to Tea for Tuesday! I thought I would share another teacup story with you.

I think of this teacup as Pretty Posies because of all the pretty purple flowers on it. This is the only teacup that I have ever purchased brand new for myself.

A few years ago, I helped teach a Christian moms co-op preschool. Those little kids were so adorable! That year was very challenging - teaching is a tough job! The end of that school year was a bit of a relief for me as I do not feel called or led to teach. After it was over, all the moms were sweet enough to treat us teachers to a full lunch tea at a cute tea place. It was a lovely time of fellowship, fun, and laughter.

As we were getting ready to leave, I spotted this teacup. It was so pretty, but I was considering whether or not to purchase it. I ended up deciding to get it as a gift to myself - both as a memory of that time and as a reward for completing a challenge that was out of my comfort zone. I'm glad I bought it! I will always remember that time by seeing my cup (and from still seeing some of those sweet kids who are now third-graders!).

I hope you enjoyed today's little teacup tale. Have you ever purchased a brand new teacup for yourself?

Have a lovely Two-sday!

Tea for Two-sday ~ Teacup Tales: Painted Purple

Happy Tea for Two-sday to you! Today I thought I would talk about another teacup - though it's actually a tea set with sugar, creamer, teapot, cups and saucers.

It might be a little difficult to see the colors in the picture, but the set is painted purple and gold. The insides are a pearlescent white. Very pretty! It would be a special set just for how pretty and unusual it is, but it actually belonged to my Great Aunt Catherine, who passed away a few years ago. I am honored to have it!

My Great Aunt Catherine hand-painted this Bavarian china tea set while she was in high school. They had a China Painting Class! What a lost art. I think it's fascinating. She initialed and dated the bottom of each piece. The set was painted by her in 1928!

I never knew this set existed or that she had hand-painted any china. A couple of my Aunts were going through her things before an estate sale a couple of years ago and called to see if I would like them to pick out something for me. This is the set they picked out and shipped to me. How special! My Great Aunt Catherine also had a book written during the her last year telling many stories of her life. I have a copy and it tells of the China Painting Class!

I hope you enjoyed my little Teacup Tale today. Do you have any treasured teacups in your home?

Tea for Two-sday ~ Teacup Tales: Green & Gold

Sorry I don't have a better picture of this teacup right now, but it's late! I have chosen to share the story that goes with this particular teacup today.

I call this one the Green & Gold and I like that it has more color than many others. This was given to me, along with one place setting, by my Dad a few years ago. It belonged to his parents. It was part of special place settings purchased for them on their 50th wedding anniversary. They celebrated their 50th before I was born!

I did not know my Grandmother - she died the year I was born. And I have only a couple of memories of my Grandfather - Grandpa Two Teeth he let us call him. I remember sitting on his lap and I remember that he was very funny. He died when I was almost 5.

My grandparents were homesteaders in Montana. The farm is still in the family, though the homestead buildings are gone and the farmhouse built in 1934 has been torn down. They grew wheat, but they also had some cattle and chickens. When I was a kid going to the farm, I could not figure out how they knew where to turn on the dirt roads in the middle of nothing but fields of wheat.

I know that the gold in the teacup was to honor the golden wedding anniversary, but it also makes me think of harvest and wheat fields. It's the perfect cup to represent that side of the family.

That is the brief story of the Green & Gold teacup. Do you have any teacup tales to share?

Reminders:

~ Please vote today! It's so important! And please pray!

~ This Friday, instead of "Would you like chocolate with that?", we will have "Would you like dessert with that?" You can still link up yummy chocolate posts, but this will give you the opportunity to branch out and link up a yummy dessert that might not have any chocolate. How does that sound?
