Review: Michael Buble - Crazy Love

Hope you're having a great weekend!  Another CD review - can't help it when I get sent such fantastic CDs!

One 2 One Network sent me the new Michael Buble CD to review, and WOW!  I love it!  Of course, I already loved Michael Buble.  He has a fantastic voice and a great crooner jazzy style, but manages to come across as young and modern at the same time.  Michael has been around for several years and is a multi-Grammy winning artist.

Michael's new album, Crazy Love, is a collection of different types of love songs.  I do really enjoy the whole album!  One of my favorites is his song - Haven't Met You Yet.  It's upbeat and a little different from the other songs.  Go see the video now and tell me what you think!  I also really like the bonus track, Whatever It Takes.  But honestly, I enjoy the all the songs.

Here's a listing of the songs on the album:

1. Cry Me A River
2. All Of Me
3. Georgia On My Mind
4. Crazy Love
5. Haven't Met You Yet
6. All I Do Is Dream Of You
7. Hold On
8. Heartache Tonight
9. You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You
10. Baby (You've Got What It Takes)
11. At This Moment
12. Stardust
13. Whatever It Takes (bonus track)

Have you listened to this album yet?  If you don't have it and want to purchase it, click here.  You can get more info about Michael Buble at his website.  I would absolutely love to see him in concert, so I'll be watching those dates!

DisclosureOne 2 One Network sent me this CD for free and asked me to give an honest review on my blog.  I received no other compensation for this review.  As always, my opinions are my own!

Do you have this CD yet or have you heard it?  What did you think?

Have a wonderful weekend friends!

The Nutella Challenge: Nutella Bites

Yay - it's Chocolate Friday!! First, I have to thank all my awesome readers and friends for so much great input and support this week! I loved all the feedback on Monday about what age to leave a child home alone and then your sweet comments and thoughts on yesterday's post. You all are the BEST! And you deserve some yummy chocolate, so here it is!

As you know, I'm a part of the Nutella Challenge at bell'alimento and that means I need to come up with a Nutella recipe once a month for a few months. Very stressful for me - the recipe Follower! I managed to come up with Mini Nutella Cheesecakes and Nutella Popcorn so far. I actually squeaked out another successful Nutella creation! Whew!

And since I created the recipe all by myself, I think this definitely qualifies for Do It Yourself Day over at A Soft Place To Land! Go link up your projects! And I'm linking it to Tasty Tuesday at Balancing Beauty and Bedlam where you can find lots of yummy recipes!

I present you with Nutella Bites! Er, I may have sampled several a few to make sure that they were good enough for you. :)

No, I don't mean bites from the jar, but I must say, when you put a bunch of Nutella in a cute little measuring cup like this - it makes you want to just grab a spoon and eat it!

Choose your favorite coating for the Nutella Bites. I used crushed pretzels and crumbled toasted almond slices. The crushed pretzels are my fave because of the salty/sweet combo, but after more sampling, it should be noted that the pretzel bits can get a little stale after a couple of days (they probably won't last that long though). You could try other coatings - maybe coconut or hazelnuts?

These are the almond-coated bites.

And here are the pretzel-coated bites.

Yum.
Nutella Bites

1/2  cup Nutella
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 cup coarsely crushed pretzels (if eating in less than 2 days) or other coating of choice

Mix first 4 ingredients together until well-mixed. Shape into 1-inch size balls. Dip in crushed pretzels or coating of choice until well-coated. Can shape into balls first or chill first. Hard to shape when soft, but coat easily. Easy to shape after chilled, but harder to coat. Chill to firm and store in refrigerator. Best eaten after sitting at room temp for a few minutes to soften slightly. Makes 24 balls...or it would if you didn't sample too much. :) The recipe can be easily doubled.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What do you think of that? I hope you get to try them! Keep me posted on great coatings you use! You can find more great Nutella recipes at bell' alimento!
If you like Nutella, try my other Nutella recipes:
 ~ Nutella Biscotti
 ~ Nutella Popcorn
 ~ Mini Nutella Cheesecakes
 ~ Nutella Macadamia Cake
 ~ Nutella S'Mores Cake
Have a wonderful chocolate-filled day!
Break Even or Blog Less?
Today, dear readers, I am looking for your ideas, thoughts, and insights.  I have come to a sort of "crossroads" with my blog.  I need to find a way to make a few dollars from or through blogging (or maybe Etsy) in order to reimburse my time and expenses ~or~ I need to cut back some on the blogging.
I work hard on my blog (as I know you do too!).  I take time to think about and plan (most of the time) my posts and it takes me a while to write them out and edit as necessary.  My theme weeks take a lot of planning ahead to make recipes and take photos so I can keep them pretty and fun.  Since I usually post at least one recipe a week, that requires a lot of baking and cooking and several photos to get the "right shot."  And there's the usual bloggy maintenance and promotion, of course.  I also spend my own money on some of the giveaways (like the Fall Fruits Festival) and the shipping.
Though my blog is a hobby that I really enjoy, I do feel (and hubs heartily agrees) that I have come to a point where I need to be reimbursed for some of my time and expenses (giveaways) in order to justify continuing at the same pace.  Now I am not looking to get rich here - LOL!!  If I could figure out a way to make even $50 a month, that would do it and I would be delighted!  If I can't do that, I may have to cut out a couple days a week so that blogging truly stays in the "hobby" category rather than slipping into the "job" category.
I have had some ideas and would like to hear what you think and any ideas you might have!  Here are some of my ideas:
  • Offer inexpensive ad packages (including button display, blog post, and twitter promotion) to companies that I personally feel good about.
  • Join an ad network or networks.
  • Do paid admin work or get paid to write posts/columns for another blog or site.
  • Start an Etsy shop selling some of my homemade goodies.
What do you think?  Any thoughts on any of those ideas?  I would love your input and any other ideas you might have!
Have any of you come to this point before on your blogs?  What did you do?
Hmmm...that was kind of a serious post.  I think you should be rewarded with chocolate!  Stop by tomorrow for Chocolate Friday and I'll share my latest Nutella Challenge recipe creation!  Link up your chocolate posts too so there's plenty of chocolate to go around!
Thanks for putting up with my post today and I look forward to your feedback!  Hugs to all!
I'm linking this up to Your Life, Your Blog at Real Life - link up your own post and get a chance to catch up with everybody else!
Works-For-Me Wednesday: Free Online Classes From Creativetechs.com
It's Works-For-Me-Wednesday over at We Are THAT Family!  It's a great place to get all sorts of great tips, ideas, recipes, and more - you should definitely check it out!
One thing that has been working for me lately is free online photography classes.  I'm currently taking a free Digital Photography class with Creativetechs.com and I'm very impressed with it!  They are currently offering other online classes and have plans for more as the current classes end.  All of the classes are free if you are able to watch the live class online.  If you can't manage that, you can purchase downloads of entire classes to watch at your convenience.  The fees for downloads are less than you would pay to attend a college or adult school class.
These classes are taught by experts and are extremely informative.  I find that it's even helpful to take notes.  The Digital Photography class I'm taking is mainly lecture with Power Point slides, but also has interactive polls and answering of audience questions.  I think these classes are nice for adults who are interested in these subjects, but would also be great for homeschoolers.
Here are some of the classes that are in progress: Lightroom, Dreamweaver, Digital Photography, Photoshop, and Retouch Live.  There are new classes being planned as these finish up.  Once you enroll, they send you e-mail reminders for the classes.  I really encourage you to go take a look at Creativetechs.com!  You can't beat free!
Don't forget to stop by We Are THAT Family to see what's working for everybody on Works-For-Me- Wednesday!
Have a fantastic Wednesday friends!
Tea For Two-sday ~ Kalahari Tea
Welcome to Tea For Two-sday!!  I hope your week is off to a lovely start! Find your favorite teacup, fill it up and sit down for a moment - I'm sure you deserve it!
A few months ago, my friend Kim sent me some things and included some Kalahari tea.  I loved it!  I looked around for it, but couldn't find any.  I eventually discovered the website and found that the tea isn't sold in stores in my area.  I kept thinking about ordering some for myself.
Through following Kalahari tea on twitter, I ended up with a free shipping offer from Kalahari.  Happy Day!  I went ahead and ordered some tea.  Oh not just any tea...Chocolate tea!
I ordered the ChocoLatte Matcha Mint Green Tea which I had already tried and enjoyed and I ordered the ChocoLatte Hazelnut Mocha Black Tea.  The Matcha Mint tea is yummy - it's the perfect combination of flavors and I love the smell of peppermint!  The Hazelnut Mocha has a nice smooth flavor and goes well with...hmmm...with chocolate of course!
I am so glad there are chocolate teas in the world!  And since Kalahari's ChocoLatte teas are made with cacao nibs (a pure raw chocolate), you get an extra dose of antioxidants in your cup of tea.  You can find more info on the Kalahari Tea website.
Disclosure:  I purchased these teas with my own money and took it upon myself to write up a review expressing my opinions since I enjoyed the tea so much!  I did not receive any compensation from Kalahari Tea.
Kalahari Tea is currently sold in most Publix grocery stores, so if you have one in your area you might find some there.  Otherwise, if you want to try some - you'll have to order from the website...or come to my house!
Have a lovely day and enjoy the rest of your Tea For Two-sday!
Home Alone - At What Age?
Good Monday morning!  I hope all of you had a super weekend!  I had a lovely one celebrating my 17th wedding Anniversary!  I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful hubby.
One of the discussions that I had with hubby this weekend brought about the discovery that we completely disagree on something!  Hubby and I thought it would be interesting to get an idea of what others think on the subject.  Who better to ask than my fabulous readers?
The subject is - what age to leave your child at home alone for a couple of hours.  Our son will be approaching that age at some point, but when?  Hubby and I have numbers for that age that are farther apart than I would have expected.  I'm not going to tell you what those numbers are yet...I want to see what your answers are!!  Later in the day, I'll leave our answers in the comments section.
So here's what I would like to know.  What is the youngest age that you feel is appropriate to leave your child at home alone for a couple hours in the evening while the parents go to dinner or shopping or the gym, etc.?  Would you change the age for a boy or a girl?  Obviously this could differ depending on whether or not the child acts mature and can be trusted to obey rules.  You can assume maturity and obedience.  Would you change the age if there are younger siblings to take care of?
I really want to hear your feedback!!  Also, I'm putting a poll on my sidebar with the same subject - feel free to click your answer there too.  Can't wait to see if your answers vary widely or are all about the same!
Thanks for your help friends!  Have a great Monday!
Would You Like Chocolate With That? ~ Chocolate.com Review
Welcome to Chocolate Friday!  You made it - the week is almost over.  Rewardeth thyself with chocolate!  Did you see all the chocolatey goodness linked up last Friday?  I know you've got more!  Get those posts ready to link up!
I signed up a while back with Chocolate.com to "blog for chocolate" (hello - dream job).  The first chocolate they sent was melted (*sniff* - poor truffles) by the UPS man, though probably not intentionally I suppose!  Who keeps a box of chocolates in a hot truck for 13 hours when it's over 90 degrees out??  Sigh - I know by the spoonfuls of melted truffle that it would have been fabulous in original condition!
So those lovely peeps at Chocolate.com sent me more chocolate!  This time, it was mostly not melted!  There was a variety of chocolates and hubby generously volunteered to help me with the tasting.
First was Bochox by Bloomsberry & Co.:
This chocolate bar was nice, smooth and creamy, plus it's packaged so cleverly.  Click the pic to enlarge and read the humorous box!  Great chocolate in great packaging!  How can you go wrong?  2 thumbs up!
Next was Santander Dark Chocolate (70% Cacao) with Passion Fruit:
This chocolate bar was a more bitter chocolate, but the passionfruit added a nice little crunch and just the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the chocolate flavor.  Another 2 thumbs up!
Then was the Hachez 88% Pemier CRU Bar:
This chocolate bar is for serious chocolate-tasters.  I expected more bitterness, but was surprised by the flavor.  It was very creamy, smooth, and not bitter, just not very sweet.  Thumbs up from me, but thumbs down from hubs only because he is not a bittersweet chocolate fan.
Last was Chocolate Visions Inc. 6 piece Spring Collection:
Mmmmm.  Truffles.  These dark chocolate truffles include ingredients like olive oil and creme fraiche.  Very creamy and a nice flavor.  Also really pretty with the flowers on top.  2 thumbs up and our fave of all the chocolates!
Overall - a delightful chocolate tasting!!  These are some high quality chocolate bars and truffles.  I might be getting spoiled - fake chocolate is starting to lose its appeal (I have never been a chocolate "snob").
Thank you Chocolate.com!!  Delicious chocolates, great variety, pretty packaging, and good customer service!  By the way, if you sign up for the Chocolate.com newsletter, you'll receive a free $5.00 gift certificate!
OK - your turn to share chocolate!  I know you've got some!  Go find a chocolate post or write one or find some chocolate pics and link them up below with MckLinky.
Have a wonderful chocolatey Friday!
Don't Try To Deny That You Are THAT Family
I'm sure that you must know Kristen at We Are THAT Family by now (if you don't, you really need to go read her blog!)!  I have been reading her blog since I started blogging.  I found her through my friend Sarah at Real Life and I've never left.  Kristen even gave me advice as a new blogger when I asked - she is THAT nice!
Kristen is celebrating her 2nd Blogoversary today - Woo Hoo! - and she's asking us to post our THAT family moments.  She's even giving away fabulous prizes, so go check it out!
Kristen believes that there is probably a little THAT family in all of us.  She's right - don't even try to deny it!  You can be THAT family without having multiple trips to the emergency room - really.  I recently admitted to being a member of THAT family and have the official badge on my sidebar.  But I thought I didn't have a THAT family moment to post about today.  Let me warn you - that's a dangerous thought to have!
I was up too late as usual last night finishing a couple things on the computer.  It was already midnight and the last thing I did was look at Kristen's post for her THAT family party and think to myself that I had absolutely nothing to say.  Danger -- THAT family "curse" can reach you anywhere, anytime!  :)
I walked into the kitchen to put away a cup before heading to bed when the THAT family moments began!  There, in the kitchen were 2 slow cookers full of food that I had forgotten all about!  Now they weren't overcooked at this point, but I had to deal with them before I could go to bed.  One was full of a snack mix that was now going to have to cool off before I could put it away.  The other was full of apples for applesauce, but the apples weren't quite mushy enough.  It was going to have to cook on high for a while before I could smash the apples.  Sigh - no bed for me yet.
I decided to console myself  by grabbing an open bag of goldfish from the table - which then ripped apart and dropped upside down on the floor, spilling most of the bag (bigger Costco-size bag) all over the kitchen floor.  At first, I was more upset about the waste of perfectly good goldfish, but then I realized that I had to clean it all up now!  After the cleanup, I did eat a few goldfish out of the ripped bag to "get them back."
I did finally get everything finished up and got to bed very late (or early?).  Do you see what can happen if you start thinking that you don't have THAT family moments?  Watch out friends - who knows what might happen today!
Congrats Kristen on your 2nd Blogaversary - and, um...you owe me some goldfish!!  ;)
Review: Joshua Bell - At Home With Friends
I recently received the Joshua Bell CD from One 2 One network (for free).  I had not actually heard of Joshua Bell before I got this CD and listened to it.  Joshua Bell is a Grammy Award-winning violinist and has over 30 original albums!  Where have I been??
This isn't just your typical album with Joshua playing all instrumental violin pieces.  He wanted to do something different and perform instrumental and vocal duets with some wonderful friends and musicians.  The result is lovely.  His beautiful violin playing combined with singers like Sting, Josh Groban and musicians such as Chris Botti makes the CD really enjoyable!
I was listening to the CD again, trying to decide what my favorite song was, but I still can't decide.  I love the first few songs  - they give that sort of haunting sound that transports you to a far-off land.  It's so relaxing to listen.  I had to just sit myself down, close my eyes, and enjoy.  But I also enjoy the upbeat songs and the variety of song types.  I truly like this album and will not forget Joshua Bell anytime soon.  This CD seems like the perfect sound for Fall and Winter, so I plan on playing it quite a bit over the next few months!  In fact, this seems like a good Stop and Smell the Chocolates kind of CD, so maybe I need to sit down with a cup of tea (or glass of wine!) and some chocolate when listening to this one!
Here's a list of the tracks on the album:
Album Tracklisting (Originally performed by):
I Loves You Porgy   featuring Chris Botti, trumpet
Come Again   featuring Sting, vocals
Oblivion   featuring Carel Kraayenhof, bandoneon
Cinema Paradiso   featuring Josh Groban, vocals
Para Tí   featuring Tiempo Libre, various
My Funny Valentine   featuring Kristin Chenoweth, vocals
Maybe So   featuring Edgar Meyer, Sam Bush and Mike Marshall, strings
Grieg: Sonata No. 3   featuring Sergei Rachmaninoff (Zenph re-performance)
Eleanor Rigby   featuring Frankie Moreno, piano & vocals
O, Cease Thy Maiden Fair   featuring Nathan Gunn, baritone
Il Postino   featuring Carel Kraayenhof, bandoneon
Left Hand Song   featuring Regina Spektor, piano & vocals
Chovendo Na Roseira   featuring Dave Grusin, piano
Look Away   featuring Edgar Meyer, bass and Chris Thile, mandolin
Variant Moods: Duet for Sitar & Violin   featuring Anoushka Shankar, sitar
I'll Take Manhattan   featuring Marvin Hamlisch, piano
You can get more info at Joshua's website and even see and hear some of the performances.  You can buy the CD here.
DisclosureOne 2 One Network sent me this CD for free in exchange for doing an honest review on my blog.  I received no other compensation.
Wordless Wednesday: The Patio Cover That Is No More
Hello and welcome to Wordless Wednesday!  I wanted to show some pics to acknowledge my hubby's hard work this past weekend.
We have had a wooden patio cover (lattice-type) in the backyard that the original owners had built and because it's getting old, we decided we should take it down sometime in the next year.
Or, you know...we could just have a STORM blow it down.  :)
It was quite a surprise!  Hubby had to spend this past weekend taking it apart - saved some of the wood and the rest is piled up waiting to be hauled off.
Thanks honey for all your hard work!!
The BBQ was a casualty, but actually kept the structure from slamming into the fence!
Whew - we got that taken care of, and when I say "we" - well, I helped with approximately 0% of the patio cover demolition.  :)  I guess that gives "us" a head start on the yardwork "we" plan to do next week!
For more Wordless Wednesday, stop by 5 Minutes For Mom!  Have a wonderful Wednesday!!
Fall Fruits Festival ~ Chocolate & Giveaway
** Giveaway now closed. **
Welcome to the last day of the Fall Fruits Festival! I've combined it with my usual Chocolate Friday. I felt that it was only right that I should declare Chocolate to be a Fall Fruit - LOL! Should be much easier to get those recommended fruit servings now - you're welcome. :) Whether or not you agree that chocolate is a fruit, it does go well with fruit and it is a good Fall food!
Have you experienced the fun of every day of the Festival this week? You don't want to miss out on all the yummy recipes linked up to each day!
Day 1 ~ Pears
Day 2 ~ Pumpkin
Day 3 ~ Apples
Day 4 ~ Cranberries
Now if you're all caught up, you should reward yourself with some chocolate! I knew that I wanted to find a recipe for today that combined pumpkin and chocolate. I thought about truffles, but didn't see a recipe I liked. I also thought about combining pumpkin fudge with regular chocolate fudge - yum! But then I thought of something else and found a recipe to try. This is a nice Fall biscotti and it does combine pumpkin and chocolate!
You can get the recipe for Pumpkin Pecan Biscotti at epicurious.com. It doesn't have an overwhelming pumpkin flavor, not too much chocolate, and it isn't super sweet. It's just right! The recipe calls for white chocolate, but I didn't have any. I just used about a half cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips instead. This biscotti is softer than the other kinds I make, but I like it!
** GIVEAWAY CLOSED. ** And now...giveaway time!
This giveaway is for chocolate!! That's over a pound of Trader Joe's dark chocolate! I feel certain that you can come up with some use for it. :)
Enter the giveaway by leaving a comment on this post! That's it! The giveaway will stay open through 10pm PST on Sunday 10/18 and the winner will be randomly chosen from the comments.
Now it's time for you to link up your chocolate posts and recipes, because it's kind to share! You can link up a new or old post about chocolate, but please do include a link back to this post so everybody can enjoy the Fall Fruits Festival (and Chocolate Friday)! If you don't have a blog, feel free to share chocolate links and recipes in the comments.
Check back through the day to see all the chocolate posts linking up! I can't believe this is the last day of the Festival! My only regret is that I didn't make it a requirement to give me a sample to taste for every recipe linked - LOL! You can come back all weekend long and look at all the links (and you can still link up your posts) and enter the giveaways! Giveaway winners will be announced on Monday. Thank you so much for helping to make this such a fun and successful week! I really hope you enjoyed it!
Fall Fruits Festival ~ Cranberries & Giveaway
** Giveaway now closed. **
Welcome to another day of the Fall Fruits Festival! I'm so glad you were able to stop by! We've already made it to Day 4! Today is all about Cranberries! Just in case you've missed any of the days, you need to go back and check out all the great recipes and enter all the giveaways:
Day 1 ~ Pears
Day 2 ~ Pumpkin
Day 3 ~ Apples
Wisconsin is the largest producer of cranberries in the United States, with Massachusetts coming in second. Cranberries are harvested in the Fall, usually in September and October. Fresh cranberries can be frozen for several months and used in recipes without thawing.
I do have some cranberry recipes that have appeared on my blog, like Dried Cranberry Biscotti, Pantry Cranberry-Apple Sauce, and Red White & Blueberry Cookies. I also have a couple of cranberry recipes from my other blog: Ham and Arugula Sandwiches with Cranberry Chutney, and Cranberry Nut Turkey Salad.
The recipe I'm sharing today is made with fresh cranberries. I got the recipe from my Stepmother. I love it and I love that it makes multiple loaves - there's one in my freezer right now!
Cranberry Nut Bread
2/3 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
4 eggs
2 1/2 cups chopped fresh cranberries
2 cups chopped walnuts
Cream butter and sugar. Add slightly beaten eggs and mix until smooth. Add flour and mix (dough will be thick). Stir in chopped cranberries and nuts. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40-45 minutes. Makes 3 small loaves or 2 regular loaves.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yum. I think this makes a nice gift at Christmas or something good to snack on at Thanksgiving! It's excellent for breakfast with your cup of coffee or tea.

Giveaway time again!

This giveaway is for a dozen homemade Dried Cranberry Biscotti and a box of Trader Joe's Organic Cranberry Green Tea.

Enter the giveaway by leaving a comment on this post! That's it! The giveaway will stay open through 10pm PST on Sunday 10/18 and the winner will be randomly chosen from the comments.

Now it's time for you to link up your cranberry posts and recipes so we can all get some new cranberry ideas! You can link up a new or old post about cranberries, but please do include a link back to this post so everybody can enjoy the Fall Fruits Festival! If you don't have a blog, feel free to share cranberry links and recipes in the comments.

Check back through the day to see all the cranberry posts linking up! Please come back tomorrow - it's Day 5 and it's Chocolate! I declared it a Fall fruit - LOL! Thank you for coming by today!

Have a thrilling Thursday friends!
